We had a creative breakfast this morning. This breakfast wasn’t that creative. It pitted the merits of Facebook against the merits of Twitter. Arguments (nice ones) occured. But nobody could agree that Twitter (in all it’s new found fame) was the future of social networking. It’s just another aspect of it.
There were the usual slightly naive accusations at twitter, that it just reports the mundane everyday acts people make and is therefore very dull and pointless. There were accusations at Facebook too, that it is basically wetting it’s pants and has hurridly tried to copy Twitters ‘real time’ status updates.
But in the end, everyone decided that the two were very different. Twitter truely is the social network that can be as interesting as you want purely by the people you follow. If you find somebody boring - stop following them. Nobody will be offended because they won’t know. It’s another alternative to Google and fast becoming the ‘Real time’ search engine. It’s a one stop shop for discovering the latest new things out there - hearing about new music, films and reactions to real world events.
